Hamleys World Famous Toy Store selects Star TSP100 futurePRNT Receipt Printers for Point of Sale

When he was a small boy, William Hamley dreamed of opening the best toy shop in the world. In 1760, he did, cramming his small shop ‘Noah’s Ark’ with every toy he could find. By the time Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837, Hamleys was already a London landmark. Families flocked to the store, now owned by William’s grandsons. So successful was the shop that in 1881 a new branch opened on Regent Street, London. To cope with the public’s growing appetite for playthings, Hamleys added a further five floors of toys.

Over the years, Hamleys survived the hard times of the 1920s and the Blitz of the Second World War, and remains the world’s most famous toy store, continuing the tradition of providing the “Finest toys in the world”. In 1981 Hamleys moved to 188-196 Regent Street where it remains today. The flagship store on Regent Street has 7 floors packed full of toys and games.

Within the Regent Street store Hamleys has recently taken the decision to upgrade to the DigiPoS Retail Blade PoS system and TSP100 futurePRNT ™ thermal printer from international printer manufacturer Star Micronics.

The TSP100 futurePRNT offers high speed printing, exceptional print quality and a range of unique features including a number of software tools. These enable the overall appearance of receipts to be easily modified and customers to be effectively targeted through the addition of relevant vouchers.

Having selected the TSP100 Powered USB model Hamleys further benefits from improved cable management and uninterrupted power supply on both the PC and the printer thus protecting all transactions.

“When we were looking to upgrade the TSP100 futurePRNT from Star Micronics was an obvious choice. This high performance printer offers reliability coupled with versatility given its wealth of unique and powerful features,” says David Oakley, Head of IT, Hamleys.
